About This “Zimbra Performance Tuning Guidelines for Large Deployments” Webinar:
Zimbra’s wiki, Performance Tuning Guidelines for Large Deployments, is a good starting point, but lacks specific details applicable to Zimbra versions 8.8.15 and Zimbra 9. Further, many Zimbra global, server and localconfig settings have default values that were sensible in their day, but create issues in today’s environment where single mailboxes can reach 100GB or larger.
In this fast-paced, 90-minute webinar conducted by Mark Stone with Panelist John Eastman, VP Client Solutions at Synacor, you will learn:
- How to easily tell if you are CPU, RAM or I/O (disk) constrained.
- IMAP performance enhancements.
- MariaDB memory optimization.
- MTA (Postfix and Amavis) tuning strategies.
- Java (mailboxd) tuning.
- NG Backup disk tuning.
- 60 minutes spent doing the “tune up” work live on a Zimbra Lab Server hosted in Amazon Web Services.
- 30 minutes of Q&A.
Mark Stone is the Synacor-Certified Zimbra Trainer for the United States, a long-time moderator on the Zimbra forums and a Zimbra Partner since 2006. In 2018, Mark presented Amazon Web Services Hosting Best Practices at the North American Zimbra Partners Conference in Texas at Synacor’s invitation. His blog posts covering Zimbra best practices garner thousands of page views every month.
John Eastman, VP Client Solutions, has been at Synacor since 2014, when Zimbra Inc. acquired Mezeo Software — at which John was the Chief Technology Officer. Over the years, John has held a variety of VP-level positions in Zimbra Product Development, Engineering, and now Client Solutions.
What Customers Are Saying
“Our 5,500-mailbox Zimbra system was past end of life and kept freezing up. The team that had built it had moved on and left little system documentation. Mark’s diagnostic skills and performance enhancements enabled us to migrate in stages to a new system with the old system producing 100% uptime and solid performance during the entire migration.”
Recommended Webinar Prerequisites:
Some familiarity with Linux operating system fundamentals and Zimbra command line tools like zmprov and zmlocalconfig, along with a basic understanding of the functional roles of various Zimbra components, like mailboxd, amavisd, MariaDB and Postfix. All of our webinars are open to Network Edition and Open Source Edition customers, as well as other Zimbra Partners.
Future webinars will cover:
- Securing your domain using SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
- Zimbra server security hardening.
- Zimbra Anti-Spam strategies.
